No sound on playback

If you have video but no audio, try these fixes:

Fix 1: Check TV volume and mute

  • Make sure your TV is not muted
  • Check if the audio is routed to a soundbar/external speaker that is off

Fix 2: Change audio output in STBAir settings

  • Some content uses audio codecs your TV does not support by default
  • If available, try switching between 'Auto', 'PCM', or 'Passthrough' in audio settings

Fix 3: Try different content

  • If only one item has no sound, it is a provider-side encoding issue
  • Other content working fine confirms the app is not the problem

Fix 4: Restart the app

  • Close STBAir completely and reopen
  • Sometimes the audio decoder gets stuck after switching quickly

Fix 5: Check your provider

  • Some providers encode audio in formats like AAC 5.1 or AC3 that older TVs cannot decode
  • Ask your provider if they have an alternative audio option
